The Akademie der Künste Berlin remains one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Germany to this day. Its former and current members include some of the most defining cultural creators of the past centuries, such as Christoph Schlingensief, Arnold Zweig, Konrad Wolf, Hito Steyerl, Jonathan Franzen, Ai Weiwei, Sasha Waltz, Bob Dylan, and Wim Wenders.
The Akademie der Künste is comprised of six sections: Visual Arts, Architecture, Music, Literature, Performing Arts, and Film and Media Arts. Additionally, it includes the Junge Akademie, awards and foundations, and the Studio for Electroacoustic Music, among other programs. Our challenge was to make the broad spectrum of themes and content quickly and easily accessible through intuitive navigation and a rhizomatic structure. With the relaunch of the Akademie der Künste website, the diverse offerings, events, and media will also be accessible in a barrier-free manner. Visitors, researchers, and those interested will soon be able to utilize the Akademie der Künste’s digital offerings through an event calendar that includes ticket booking and live streams, a media library, a webshop for publications, and many automated content modules.
